Donald Duck's Christmas Tree is a Little Golden Book based on the 1952 Mickey Mouse cartoon short Pluto's Christmas Tree, but with Mickey inexplicably replaced by Donald Duck (and vice-versa).

Synopsis[]

It's the day before Christmas. Donald Duck is going to get a Christmas tree. He puts on his winter clothes and picks up his axe as he goes into the woods the Pluto the Dog.

Deep in the woods in a sturdy fir tree, the chipmunk duo, Chip 'n' Dale, are decorating their own miniature tree, when Donald and Pluto come by. Donald glances at the chipmunks' sturdy tree and cuts it down. They then take the tree home.

Donald sets up the tree and gathers boxes of Christmas tree decorations. They put on the colored string lights and tree balls and the like. Donald asks Pluto to stay put while he goes to get the presents to put under the tree.

As Pluto begins to watch the three, he notices the two silly chipmunks playing in it. Pluto growls while the chipmunks throw three balls at him. When Donald comes back, he thinks Pluto was snatching the balls off the tree. Donald tells him to be good while he brings in the rest of the presents. This time, Pluto watches as Chip cracks an ornament over his head while Dale laughs and Pluto growls. Donald blames him, thinking he was attempting to ruin the tree, and forces him to stay in the yard for the rest of Christmas Eve.

Suddenly, Chip took the ornament off his head and dropped it on the ground, while Dale twists one of the lights, turning it on and off. Pluto barks that it was Chip 'n' Dale who was responsible for ruining the tree. Donald apologizes for blaming Pluto.

Pluto holds the door open and asks the chipmunks to go out in the snow, but Donald claims that since it's Christmas Eve, he should be kind of everyone, even chipmunks. The duo apologizes and become friends, when Donald's nephews - Huey, Dewey, and Louie - come by at the house for a Christmas Eve celebration.
